Tuesday 25.08.2020 | 14:00 - 17:00

Workshop

This workshop is an introduction to human-computer interfaces (HCI) with a special emphasis on integrating kinetic motion with sound. We will look at the history of physical kinetic sound installation and sculpture in contemporary art and explore different strategies for producing and controlling sound using a variety of programmable and DIY techniques. Using real-world examples taken from the artist’s own work, we’ll explore both practical and conceptual design from conception, prototyping and installation. Other topics include an overview of the basic principles of acoustics, different strategies for composing for sound in space, incorporating mechanical motion and motor control and connecting software paradigms with the physical world.
